Shopping Online on Monday? Beware of Cyber Monday Scams

cyber_monday_imagecyber_monday_imagecyber_mondayAfter black Friday, a term used to signify the busiest shopping day of the year, due to the traditional big discounts that are advertised and being given on the day after thanksgiving to kick off the holiday shopping season.  Cyber Monday, coined the term during the 2005 holiday shopping season, is known as the busiest online shopping day of the year.  Last year close to 800 million was spent online during Cyber Monday!

As with most things, sinister people try to  capitalize on good intentions.  When downloading or printing a coupon from shopping comparison and coupon sites, you should not need to provide personal information, or pay a small fee to receive a coupon.  These coupon offer scams can be provided from an email to a site claiming to be a coupon aggregator.

This is not to say there are no good coupon sites.  For good bargains, check out pricegrabber.com, they will allow you to set alerts on products you are keeping an eye on.  Retailmenot.com has almost to half a million coupons on their site.  Dealio.com has up to 30 million products for you to compare on their site.

Hope you have a safe holiday shopping season, and please let me know if you come across anything that we should all be aware of.
